Arizona U.S. House candidate Abe Hamadeh declared Attorney General Kris Mayes “illegitimate” in a Thursday appearance on Steve Bannon’s War Room after she handed down indictments against Arizona Republicans and allies of former President Donald Trump for their role in the 2020 election contest.
Hamadeh previously ran against Mayes in 2022 and continues to contest the results of the election. Mayes won by just 280 votes and Hamadeh contends there are about 9,000 uncounted ballots that would likely break in his favor.
He told Bannon, “You’d have to be living under a rock to not know what’s going on. This is clearly a fake, illegitimate attorney general.”
Describing the indictments as “very brazen,” Hamadeh (pictured above, left) continued, “If someone wanted to weaponize the legal system, this is exactly what you would do.”
The candidate then argued Mayes (pictured above, right) seeks the public recognition granted to other Democratic prosecutors targeting the former president, calling the timing of the indictments “predictable.”

“It’s during an election year, right when President Trump’s at trial in New York,” he argued, “this is Kris Mayes trying to get her fame right now, like Fani Willis, like Alvin Bragg, like Jack Smith, like Letitia James.”
Hamadeh previously derided the legal action by Mayes as a “sham indictment” in a post to the social media platform X.
“This politically motivated indictment is yet another glaring example of deranged Democrats openly engaging in electioneering through weaponized justice system with one goal: take down President Donald J. Trump,” stated Hamadeh.

In his War Room appearance, Hamadeh argued Mayes and her allies are ultimately willing to use their government offices for political gain due to their adherence to a greater agenda.
“The reason why I was running is because I predicted this,” said Hamadeh of his 2022 campaign.
He explained, “This is a Marxist transformation that is happening in our country and it will not stop until Republicans in power stop them. It’s obvious.”
Asked about his own legal efforts to overturn the 2022 election results, Hamadeh divulged that he intends to file with the Supreme Court “very shortly” but conceded, “We’ve seen what a weaponized legal system does, and it’s a tragedy to the law.”
Hamadeh is currently seeking office in Arizona’s 8th Congressional District, which is set to be vacated as Representative Debbie Lesko (R-AZ-08) leaves national politics to run for office in Maricopa County.
Endorsed by Trump and U.S. Senate candidate Kari Lake, Hamadeh now faces a contentious primary campaign with former Republican U.S. Senate nominee Blake Masters.
After Masters released a campaign advertisement accusing his opponent of being an “anchor baby” and depicting him in Islamic garb, Hamadeh struck back by declaring Masters “abandoned America First” and “surrendered to the swamp” after losing his Senate bid in 2022.
